About me
Experienced Australian online tutor, Gabrielle Uren.
Welcome!
If you want to learn a bit more about me, this is a great place to be!
How did I get into tutoring?
I started teaching when I was about 16 when I was doing my martial arts training and assisting in the junior kids classes. I really enjoyed helping the kids learn and seeing them achieve their goals.
Then, 3 years ago I started tutoring as an English as a Second Language tutor. I love being able to communicate with people and learn different cultures while learning another language, so I wanted to be able to help other people do the same and achieve their goals.
I then started school tutoring to help kids struggling after the lockdowns of 2020.
What do Enjoy Most About Tutoring?
My favourite part of tutoring is going through a concept and then seeing the students when the concept finally clicks with them. It’s really rewarding to be able to go through content and then see them finally grasp it.
My Strengths as a Tutor
I believe one of my biggest strengths is being able to adapt my teaching style and methods to the students that I have. I’ve received feedback letting me know that I explain concepts in a really easy-to-understand way.
Most Important Thing I Can Do for my Students
One of the most important things a tutor can do for the student is to be flexible in their teaching methods and approaches to learning/teaching content as there are so many different learning styles out there and they are there with us because they may be having trouble with the teaching methods used at school. In those cases in particular, it’s good to be able to find ways of helping them as effectively as possible.
I also believe that it’s really important that the tutor not be judgemental about a student’s learning journey and be supportive if the student is feeling discouraged.
